Extended major
Available in the Bachelor of Health Science
This extended major will provide you with the skills you'll need to help tackle the range of health issues faced by Indigenous peoples both locally and globally. You will learn the principles of health promotion and skills in the development, implementation and evaluation of health promotion plans.
In this extended major, you will gain a deeper knowledge and understanding of Indigenous health and wellbeing, with a particular focus on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health, and the unique challenges faced in the area.
You will study the knowledge and ways of knowing for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples in relation to contemporary and traditional health; design, implementation and evaluation of health policies and health promotion programs; health service management; research; and cultural safety and competency.
You willl also get practical experience through a work placement in your final year of study, helping you to be job-ready. Choose from a range of electives to further tailor your studies to your career aspirations.
If you already have relevant Certificate IV or Diploma level qualifications, you can apply for credit for your previous study.

Community, Government and not for profit sector in community health management, health policy development, project development and management, health promotion and disease prevention, international health and research.
