Earn two degrees in only four years to become an arts discipline teacher in middle (Years 8–9) and senior (Years 10–12) schools.
This program prepares you to practise as a secondary teacher in Queensland. The education component develops professional knowledge and practice through courses on campus and at a variety of school/education sites. The arts component develops a background in chosen disciplines to support curriculum and co-curriculum studies in secondary schools. You study two teaching areas from civics, English, geography, history, maths, science, and studies of society and the environment. Classroom field experiences start in your second year of study.
The University also offers a Bachelor of Education/Bachelor of Business and a Bachelor of Education/Bachelor of Science.
Post-admission requirements
You must complete a minimum of 80 days of supervised field experience, completed as full-time blocks. One major supervised field experience must be completed in a Queensland school. You are required to complete 100 hours of wider field experience. A Suitability Card is required, refer to Requirements for placements.

Professional recognition
Graduates may register with the Queensland College of Teachers. Registration is a requirement to teach in Queensland schools.

Program requirements and notes
- No courses may normally be counted towards more than one major or minor within each Faculty.
- A maximum of five introductory level courses can be included in the 16 Arts and Social Sciences courses in a combined program. A maximum of 3 Science courses (36 units) can be included in the Bachelor of Education/Bachelor of Arts.
- An introductory level course has a number less than 200 in its course code. An advanced level course has a number greater than 200 and less than 400 in its course code.
- Courses credited to a student's academic record through cross-institutional studies or as advanced standing may also count towards majors and minors where those courses are equivalent to courses listed in the relevant major or minor.

Requirements for placements
The Commission for Children and Young People Act (2000 and 2005) applies to all pre-service teachers who will be working with children/students under the age of 18 in Queensland settings as a component of their program of pre-service education. Blue Cards are issued by the Commission once it has carried out the Working with Children Check to see if a person is eligible. If a person is eligible, they are issued a positive notice and a Blue Card.
Education students are encouraged to apply for their Blue Card as soon as they have accepted their offer to avoid processing delays. Blue Cards are free of charge for Education students when they apply through the Professional Workplace Learning office (Level 2, I Building).
