1. It is University policy that membership by students of the Student Guild is optional and a decision for each individual student.

2. The University does not require any person to become a member of the Student Guild.

3. The University does not require any student enrolled with or seeking enrolment with the University to pay any amount to the University or another entity in respect of an organisation of students or of students and other persons.

4. The University does not impose any penalties or sanctions if a student decides not to become a member of the Student Guild.

5. This policy is effective from 1 July 2006 onwards.
