Award abbreviation: MMgt
Degree type: postgraduate coursework program
Modes of study: on campus and online. International students selecting the on campus mode must enrol full-time in each of the sessions. In addition, the online mode is not available for international students to study in Australia on a student visa.
Duration: 1 year minimum full-time; 6 years maximum part-time

Commencement: this program runs on a session basis, three times a year, commencing in late February, June and October. There are three intakes per year.

Admission requirements

A Bachelor's degree from a recognised higher education institution.

Applications are also invited from candidates who do not have an undergraduate degree but who have relevant work experience of three years or more. These candidates must first enrol in and complete the qualifying four-course Graduate Certificate in Management. Enrolment via this pathway is limited to 10 percent of total applicants.

Applicants whose first language is other than English must demonstrate an appropriate level of English proficiency by providing evidence of one of the following required qualifications:

  • IELTS - 6.5 overall, with a minimum of 6.0 in all subtests, or
  • TOEFL - 575 with TWE of 5 (paper-based test) or 230 (computer-based test), or
  • Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English - Level A Pass, or
  • previous degree completed in English

International students also need to refer to the English language requirements.

Advanced standing

Students with an undergraduate degree

No advanced standing will be granted to students with an undergraduate qualification.

Students with postgraduate qualifications

Students who have completed equivalent postgraduate courses elsewhere may apply for advanced standing up to a maximum of 50 percent for the Master of Management, Graduate Diploma in Management and the Graduate Certificate in Management. The content of the courses would need to overlap the University of the Sunshine Coast course content by least 70 percent.

Program requirements

Students are required to successfully complete 12 courses as specified in the Master of Management program structure. International students wishing to study on campus must study full-time and are required to complete four courses from those listed for each session of enrolment. Refer to the Academic Rules for further information.

MGT724 Industry Research Project (two-course equivalent project) or MGT725 Industry Research Project (four-course equivalent project) are available to students studying for the Master of Management. This project can only be undertaken after completing eight courses. This course is available subject to the approval of the Head of School and available resources.
