Student Handbook, Semester 2, 2007: Work integrated learning

Work integrated learning

An internship course is an elective course that is usually undertaken in first or second semester of the third year. This course provides students with a structured and supervised vocational experience in a relevant discipline area, where they have the opportunity to experience, at first hand, the reality of a workplace situation. This experience will:

  • help to demonstrate the students suitability for employment in a specific area
  • provide an opportunity to experience, analyse and evaluate the workplace environment
  • develop competencies that are necessary to assume professional responsibilities, and
  • enhance an understanding of career opportunities.

Students must apply for entry into all WPL courses.
