Program Overview

The Bachelor of Sustainable Tourism explores issues and management approaches relevant to the growing industry of sustainable tourism. You gain a critical appreciation of environmental factors and sustainable development considerations important to tourism development.
Topics studied include the interaction between society and the environment, information technology and tourism, sustainable development and management, natural environment, environmental science, and business principles relevant to tourism.

By working closely with local operators you learn how to solve problems and develop strategies for best practice in sustainable tourism.

Professional Membership
Students and graduates may apply to the Ecotourism Association of Australia.

Career Opportunities

Knowledge and skills acquired through the Bachelor of Sustainable Tourism are transferable across many sectors such as government, education, the arts, commerce, and industry. Depending on minors chosen, opportunities may include a coastal management tourism officer, ecotourism accommodation manager, environmental events and festivals coordinator, environmental tourism enterprise owner / operator, local government sustainable tourism officer, nature-based tourism guide, non-government conservation tourism officer, sustainable development interpretive coordinator, sustainable operations planning officer, sustainable tourism consultant or policy specialist and a sustainable tour operator.
