Our Session 4 TPP pathway allows you to build on your knowledge and confidence in the subject areas you’ll need for your degree like english, maths or science. If you haven’t studied in a while, TPP helps you brush up on essential study skills like critical reading, assignment writing and referencing.
Our session begins 29 May 2023 and runs over four teaching weeks with final assessment in the the week following. This teaching period is much shorter than the standard semester. Check the key dates for the teaching period on the academic calendars.
The shorter time frame makes the program more intensive with the equivalent of three weeks’ worth of lectures, tutorials and independent study each week. We generally recommend students only do one at a time and should be mindful of the hours required before selecting courses.
Depending on how many TPP courses you complete, your final grades for TPP could be used to determine a selection rank for tertiary admission. A minimum of two TPP courses is required to generate a selection rank from this study. This is done by using your course grades to calculate your Grade Point Average (GPA) and converting this to a selection rank. For example, students can achieve a selection rank of 67.00 for achieving a passing GPA for two or three TPP courses, up to a maximum selection rank of 80.95.
Comparison of semester to Session 4 intensive workload
Teaching period | Hours on campus per week | Number of teaching weeks | Hours of recommended independent study |
---|---|---|---|
Semester 1 or 2 | 3 hours per course | 13 weeks | 7-10 hours weekly, per course |
Session 4 | 6 hours per course* | 4 weeks | 24 hours weekly, per course* |
*Students will be required to attend up to 6 hours of contact per course each week spread across a number of days. This is in addition to self-guided tutorial and assessment preparation. Expect to input approximately 30 hours per course towards your class attendance and study each week.
Locations
In Session 4, TPP is delivered at Moreton Bay campus only.
Applying for undergraduate study
Session 4 TPP students who intend to commence an undergraduate place in Semester 2 must lodge their application with Student Central by the due date, i.e. the end of the first week of classes. Late applications may be accepted for programs that remain open.
Offers will be made in early July when provisional TPP results have been determined. This is at the end of a major admissions period when most new students have already enrolled; thus choices of class times when enrolling may be limited. Check the official grade release date on the academic calendar.
