Montessori Education is an internationally recognised term for child-centred, stage appropriate pedagogy that fosters every child’s natural desire for knowledge, understanding and respect. This Graduate Certificate provides an introduction to education theory and signature practices for teaching children aged 6-9 from a Montessori Education perspective. Through your studies in this short program, you will build your knowledge and understanding of Montessori Education practices and principles and enhance your teaching practices. This program offers the opportunity to learn from fully trained and qualified Montessori educators, to connect theory and practice, and to study with a cohort of likeminded peers.

Through your studies in this short program, you will build your knowledge and understanding of Montessori Education practices and principles and enhance your teaching practices. This program offers the opportunity to learn from fully trained and qualified Montessori educators, to connect theory and practice, and to study with a cohort of likeminded peers.
This program is available in full-time mode only, and is delivered via weekly online lectures at the beginning of the semester, with a compulsory 6-week intensive, on-campus program, that overlaps the school holiday period. In this program you will complete four specialist courses in Montessori Education that can be used as full and direct credit to the Master of Education (Montessori). Graduates from the Master of Education (Montessori Studies) are eligible for the award of the international AMI Diploma (6-9), subject to successful completion of all international requirements, including exams and other assessment items, and payment of examination fees.
Admission requirements
Completion of an undergraduate degree (AQF 7) or equivalent, from a recognised higher education institution or equivalent.
Note: The Graduate Certificate Montessori Education is a postgraduate education program open to applicants who have successfully obtained an undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Education. This program does not qualify graduates for teacher registration.
Fees for short courses
As part of the Federal Government's Job-ready Graduates package, USC is offering a limited number of Commonwealth supported places in the Graduate Certificate in Montessori Education in 2021. To be eligible for a Commonwealth supported place you must be a domestic student, and meet the citizenship and residency requirements. For more information visit Commonwealth supported places. Eligible students are able to defer payment through HECS‑HELP.
Commonwealth supported places for this short course initiative are only available for 2021. Any remaining short course units that are commenced in 2022 would not be Commonwealth supported, and would be charged at the cost of a full fee paying place, payable upfront.*
How to apply
To apply for the Graduate Certificate in Montessori Education, submit the completed online application form via Apply USC. Commonwealth supported places will be allocated to eligible students who meet the entry requirements in order of application date, so apply as soon as possible.
