This program has a strong focus on clinical practice and allows you to research contemporary health issues. You’ll develop your research capabilities, learning how to assess and analyse practice issues and find information to solve problems in your work or educational context. For your research project, you can choose a health care topic that sparks your interest. Your topic may even link to your workplace, allowing you to target a population of interest to you.
At USC, you can develop a supportive one-on-one relationship with your supervisors and immerse yourself in an environment of quality research. You’ll have the opportunity to engage in collaborative research in the NURTURE Research Cluster with experts in three main fields: Maternal and Child Health, Acute and Complex Care of Adults, and Health Professional Education. USC’s research in Nursing is rated well above world standard in the Australian Research Council’s 2015 Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA) report.
Our program is designed to support your transition from a Registered Nurse’s role to professional roles, academia or further study. You’ll complete a professional internship to gain practical experience and it could even help you secure a job at the end of your degree.
The opening of a new public hospital in 2016 presents tremendous job opportunities, or consider further research such as the Master of Nursing (Clinical Leadership) or Doctor of Philosophy.
Admission requirements
Students will have satisfied the requirements for the award of an AQF Level 7 Bachelor of Nursing Science award (or equivalent), be registered with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), met the English language requirement and have demonstrated a high level of achievement evidenced by a GPA of 5.0 over the second and third year of the degree program.

Membership
Graduates would be eligible to apply for membership to the Australian College of Nursing.
