Program overview
The Graduate Certificate in Digital Design (Print and Imaging) offers an opportunity to:
- upgrade existing skills or acquire new knowledge in the creative and digital media industries
- use a range of software for digital design and desktop publishing, and produce work and promotional materials for a personal portfolio and a gallery exhibition at the University
- develop practical skills through working on industry-relevant projects incorporating concept development, marketing strategies, corporate design, logo development, packaging, typography, media placement and press production
- explore the wide range of creative design possibilities available through the application of digital imaging
This program is designed for people who have already completed an undergraduate degree or its equivalent in an area different from digital design and multimedia. It is intended to provide studies in digital design equivalent to those available within the higher levels of a Bachelor degree.
Admission requirements
A student entering the Graduate Certificate in Digital Design (Print and Imaging) requires an undergraduate degree from a recognised higher education institution in an area different from digital design and multimedia. Entry by non-graduates who have extensive relevant industry experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis by the Dean, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences.
Applicants must demonstrate a level of computer literacy equivalent to that required for successful completion of DES101 Visual Literacy: Design Principles and Practice, DES105 Introduction to Design and DES106 Typography. For this purpose, TAFE introductory courses or equivalently accredited programs may be considered acceptable, or the student may demonstrate, to the Program Leader, equivalent skill through the presentation of a suitable portfolio or example of work.
