Student Handbook, Semester 1, 2009: Counselling

The following qualifications provide credit into the Bachelor of Social Science (Counselling). Students may also be eligible for credit towards other degree programs.

Graduates of the Lifeline Certificate IV in Telephone Counselling Skills receive credit for:

  • 1 introductory Arts and Social Science elective
  • 1 core course
  • 1 introductory Social and Community Studies elective
  • 1 advanced Social and Community Studies elective

Graduates of the TAFE Certificate IV in Community Services or Youth Work or Disability receive credit for:

  • 1 introductory Arts and Social Science elective
  • 1 core course
  • 1 introductory Social and Community Studies elective
  • 1 advanced Social and Community Studies elective

Graduates of the TAFE Diploma of Community Services (Aged Care Work, Youth Work, Community Work) receive credit for:

  • 2 introductory Arts and Social Science electives 
  • 1 advanced Arts and Social Science elective
  • 1 core course
  • 1 introductory Social and Community Studies elective
  • SCS276 Groupwork
  • 2 advanced Social and Community Studies electives

Graduates of the Australian Institute of Professional Counsellor’s Diploma of Professional Counselling (Course Code: AIPC DPCA) receive credit for:

  • 2 introductory Arts and Social Science electives 
  • 2 advanced Arts and Social Science electives
  • 1 core course
  • SCS180 Counselling for the Human Services Professional
  • 2 advanced Social and Community Studies electives

Graduates of the Mt Louisa Counselling Course Diploma of Community Welfare Work (Course Code: CHC50702) receive credit for:

  • 2 introductory Arts and Social Science electives 
  • 2 advanced Arts and Social Science electives
  • 1 core course
  • SCS180 Counselling for the Human Services Professional
  • SCS276 Groupwork
  • 1 advanced Social and Community Studies elective
