Program overview
The Graduate Certificate in Special Education program is an attributes-based curriculum in graduate teacher education that has a principled approach to design and development, and is responsive to current and future market demand, both locally and globally. The program will ensure it graduates scholarly teachers in the field of special education who demonstrate a commitment to critical and reconstructive professional learning, the creation of deep curriculum knowledge in this field, the development of socially just and culturally inclusive pedagogical and assessment practices. Graduates of this program will be able to professionally enhance learning outcomes for all students who are learning in special needs contexts.

Admission requirements
To be eligible for entry to the program applicants must meet one or more of the following requirements:
- be recognised as registered teachers in Queensland (or equivalent)
- hold an undergraduate degree in education
- demonstrate a strong committment to special needs learners
- be recently graduated beginning teachers who demonstrate, through interview, that they have the capacity to work in special education contexts
