Marian Tubbs: we need privacy guys here too

Marian Tubbs
we need privacy guys here too

20 November 2020—16 January 2021
Curated by Hamish Sawyer

Marian Tubbs works with poor and found materials to question ideas of value and raise economic, social and ecological issues. The artist’s assemblage-focused practice brings together images, objects and text in unexpected combinations to create new knowledge and ways of thinking.

For we need privacy guys here too, Tubbs presented new and existing works in a range of media, constructed from the physical and digital detritus of contemporary life. The exhibition’s title was a conversation fragment and reflects Tubbs’ interest in language, gender and the internet.

The artist has a strong personal connection with the Sunshine Coast and the exhibition included a new site-specific installation that incorporated locally scavenged/sourced materials.
