Dilli Village accommodation - Conditions of use

Dilli Village is an educational site. All persons staying at or utilising facilities at Dilli Village must strictly observe and comply with the following rules.

Advertising material—the display of advertising material is not permitted at Dilli Village without the University’s permission. The University’s name is not to be used in any material produced or disseminated without the University’s permission.

Alcohol—no alcohol may be brought into or consumed at Dilli Village without the prior consent of the Caretaker, acting on behalf of the University.

Animals—beware, the animals on Fraser Island are wild. Extreme care should be taken when near animals. No domestic animals are allowed at Dilli Village. Never feed dingoes. It is an offence to feed dingoes anywhere on Fraser Island.

Deposit—for educational bookings the Applicant must pay a security deposit of 50% of the total hire charges. Full payment is required for recreational trips at time of booking.

Site fees and refunds—all fees are payable in advance (at least 14 days in advance for bookings) and no refunds will be given. One vehicle is permitted per site, and trailers may only be parked in the area with the approval of the Caretaker. Check out time is 10am unless prior arrangements have been made at the time of booking. If you decide to leave earlier than agreed, the Caretaker must be notified before 10am. A day rate fee of A$10 will be charged for the day of departure. If the Caretaker is notified after 10am on the day of early departure, the full fee for that day will be charged.

Cancellation policy—if a booking is cancelled 14 days or more prior to the planned date of arrival, a full refund will be allowed less an administration fee of A$20. If a booking is cancelled less than 14 days prior to the arrival date, there will be NO refund. If a period booked is reduced less than 14 days prior to arrival date, NO refund will be given in respect of such reduction and the full amount will be payable.

Refunds—are made by application to the Financial Services Department of the University. If approved, refund payments may be issued within 14 days.

Changes to Application to Hire—any changes to this Application for Hire must be expressly authorised by the University or the Caretaker.

Children—guests under the age of 11 must be accompanied to amenities by an adult.

Keys—lost keys incur a penalty of $20 each.

Evacuation—in the event of any emergency the Applicant must arrange the orderly evacuation of the facilities.

Fire—fires are permitted only in fire rings provided.

Gates—the camp site gates must be kept closed at all times.

Refuse—all rubbish must be removed from the site by visitors and users in accordance with Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service policy.

Guarantee—the Applicant signing this Application guarantees to the University the due and punctual performance and observance of all obligations under this Application and the Dilli Village Conditions by the Applicant and the other persons in respect of whom this application is made (‘the associated guests’), and indemnifies the University against any loss or damage arising as a consequence of the use of the facilities or equipment by the Applicant and the associated guests and any failure by them to strictly comply with these Conditions and the University’s Statutes and Rules.

Indemnity—the Applicant agrees to indemnify the University against all claims, demands, actions, suits, liability, costs and expenses it may incur or for which it may become liable arising out of or in connection with the entry on site or use of facilities or occupation of premises at Dilli Village (including any injury to any person entering Dilli Village or associated facilities) by the Applicant or associated guests.

Loss or injury—the University accepts no responsibility for any loss, injury or damage to person or property at Dilli Village.

Nuisance—use of the facilities and equipment must not create a public nuisance. Noise must be kept to a minimum at all times (particularly after 10pm) and must not cause a nuisance to other Village occupants. The Caretaker may specify a time when the noise level of any live or recorded sound will be reduced. The University and the Caretaker may each terminate the use of facilities and equipment or occupancy at any time if they consider a public nuisance to be created, without notice or refund.

Right to Refuse—the Caretaker has the right to:

1) refuse entry to any guests, without giving reason, and
2) remove any guests at any time, without giving reason, if it considers the Applicant or associated persons create a nuisance or breach these Conditions.

Responsibility for damage—facilities and equipment must be cleaned and undamaged at the end of the use period. All damage to facilities or equipment (or other University property) will be the responsibility of the Applicant. If extra cleaning or repair of damage is required to return the facilities or equipment or other University property to their condition prior to use by the Applicant or the associated guests such cleaning or repair shall be arranged by the University and must be paid by the Applicant.

Smoking—is prohibited in and around buildings at Dilli Village.

Speed limit—8 kilometres per hour.

Swimming—it is not wise to swim in the ocean as there is a danger of sharks and strong rips.

Tidy—all sites must be kept clear of unwanted and unsightly items and maintained in a neat and tidy condition at all times. All belongings must be kept within the confines of the hired area.

Water—water provided at Dilli Village may not be safe for drinking.
