MLS302 Molecular Diagnostics #

Not offered until Semester 1 2026 Molecular diagnostics plays an increasingly important role in the clinical diagnostic setting. This course will provide you with an in-depth understanding of the central principles employed in the clinical laboratory with a strong focus on molecular techniques, current methods, and their clinical applications. The course will be practically orientated with an emphasis on developing laboratory skills in techniques relevant to medical molecular diagnostic analysis and results interpretation. An emphasis will be placed on their relevance to the clinical setting with regards to the diagnosis of human genetic diseases, infectious disease testing, tumour genetic testing and pre-natal and neo-natal testing. The learning materials will feature a case study-based approach to clinical diagnosis and the development of problem-solving skills.
