This course introduces the underlying theories, principles, and techniques of urban design and planning, from the creative to the technical aspects of the practice. It seeks to equip you with the foundation knowledge, language, visualisation, and design communication skills – both in hand sketching and 3D modelling required for exploring and understanding the design and planning of urban spaces. It also supports a better understanding of how urban design and planning principles and practices have developed overtime, including the statutory and policy contexts of urban design.
