Janelle Kendall is a Registered Nurse with extensive experience within Emergency Departments in a variety of settings both nationally and internationally. Throughout her clinical experience, Janelle has developed an interest in trauma, sepsis and innovative approaches and solutions to promote the standards of emergency nursing practice and education.

Janelle transitioned into the academic field in 2016, working as a sessional academic across first, second and third years. Janelle is an exceptional teacher that understands the principles of adult learning, therefore being able to engage students as partners in a learning space.

Janelle’s extensive clinical experience allows her to transfer narratives and examples of her clinical practice therefore being credible, current and authentic.

Janelle worked as an acting course coordinator in 2021 and in 2022 was appointed Associate Clinical Educator. Janelle safely challenges learners to be reflective in their thinking, challenge their assumptions and identify those areas of their own practice that require development ensuring learners are well prepared for clinical placement. Janelle is passionate about empowering students and supporting them while undertaking these clinical placements.

Janelle is an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, supporting higher education learning through additionally gained knowledge, skills, and behaviours. Janelle has a post-graduate certificate in acute care nursing and is due to complete her Master of Nursing (Clinical Education) at the University of Sunshine Coast in 2023.

Janelle's research focuses on student engagement on Canvas (online learning) and enhancing successful outcomes to strengthen the nursing workforce. Janelle is endeavouring to expand this research by completing her PhD within this field.
