Dr Alessandra Francesconi: Investigator, General Medicine and Oncology
Dr. Alessandra Francesconi is an experienced oncology specialist with nearly 20 years of expertise who joined UniSC Clinical Trials in 2024 . As a Principal Investigator, she applies her comprehensive oncology background and previous experience as a Research Fellow on oncology trials to now oversee clinical trials led by UniSC. Her experience extends across a wide range of therapeutic areas, including oncology, general medicine and common conditions such as diabetes, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, neurological disorders and rheumatological diseases.
Having transitioned from the high-pressure of oncology practice, Dr Francesconi values the structured and collaborative nature of the clinical trials industry. She enjoys working alongside highly skilled and dedicated professionals, and contributing to a team dynamic that drives excellence. While clinical trials may not be the typical career path for many medical professionals, she highlights the unique opportunities the field provides for individuals from diverse medical disciplines to contribute meaningfully.
Dr Francesconi is particularly enthusiastic about the future of UniSC Clinical Trials, with the planned expansion of new local clinics like the new Maroochy Private Hospital providing in-patient and confinement facilities that will further advance clinical research, facilitate complex trials and improve patient outcomes.
