Engage Research Lab: People and Technologies to Change the World

The Engage Research Lab investigates and develops interactive technologies such as computer games, smartphone and tablet applications, social media and artworks, where users can become involved, informed and inspired to change the world.

They are committed to research that is collaborative and has measurable benefits to the community. In partnership with major national and international organisations, they work to develop solutions around social issues to create real programs for use by real people.

The team is comprised of academics from a variety of disciplines, including: mental health, positive psychology, nursing, public health, health promotion, social sciences, counselling, planning, art and design, information technology, game design, education, engineering, HR and business, and they build on technologies which are familiar to users such as social networking sites (e.g. Facebook and YouTube), computer games (e.g. repurposed commercial games, in-house developed games and alternate reality scenarios), and smartphone and tablet applications.
