Birthing presentation to restart seminar series

A USC midwifery expert will deliver the first presentation of the Sunshine Coast Health Institute (SCHI) Seminar Series since the series was interrupted in March by COVID-19 lockdowns.

Senior Lecturer in Nursing and Midwifery Dr Lauren Kearney will discuss ‘The outcomes of birthing in rural generalist supported units in Queensland’ at the seminar, which is open to health professionals, researchers, teachers and students, from 12-1pm on Thursday 2 July.

Dr Kearney is USC’s program coordinator for the Master of Nursing (Clinical Leadership). She is a registered midwife and nurse with a background in paediatrics, maternal and child health nursing and midwifery.

She is passionate about improving the experience of healthcare for women and children though the translation of high-quality evidence into practice.
