High Performance Music will meet High Performance Sport tomorrow night when first-year USC Creative Arts (Music) student Jamison Kehl holds court at the Sunshine Coast Lightning’s final home game of the season.

An up-and-coming songwriter and performer, Jamison will perform for the Lightning fans in the strike zone for more than an hour of pre-game entertainment.

“I’ve been to a few games and the strike zone is always buzzing,” Jamison said.

“I’m really excited about the opportunity to perform to a home crowd at USC Stadium,” she said.

Jamison – an inaugural USC High Performance Music Student – was approached to perform after a Sunshine Coast Lightning staff member heard her signing at a recent USC Open Day.

“I played netball in primary school without too much success, but I’ve always loved the game so I’m pretty thrilled to be able to support our local netball team through doing what I do best – performing and singing,” Jamison said.

Lightning CEO Danielle Smith said the netball club actively works to integrate with USC as part of their mutually beneficial partnership.

“Home games are one of the key opportunities to collaborate, and the ability to draw on USC resources and talent to help deliver a quality match day experience for our fans is an asset and something we at Lightning are really proud of,” Ms Smith said.

“Jamison will be given the opportunity to sing in our Strike Zone pre-match, giving her further performance experience and exposure.”

The Sunshine Coast Lightning take on the Adelaide Thunderbirds on Saturday August 24 at USC Stadium. Game starts at 7pm with entertainment from 5.30pm.
