Nancy works to help others find employment

Nancy Sanday of North Lakes has landed work helping others gain employment after completing a Bachelor of Business at the University of the Sunshine Coast.

Nancy, who majored in Human Resource Management, is now an operations consultant with leading recruitment company Manpower and works at the firm’s office at Mt Gravatt.

Her work involves sourcing, screening and interviewing candidates to fill job orders from businesses.

“Helping people achieve their goals by securing a job they've been hoping for is a great feeling,” said Nancy, who assisted fellow students when she worked part-time at Student Services at USC SouthBank.

“My degree has opened a lot of doors for me. I would not have the skills, confidence or competitive edge I now have, and I certainly would not be in the position I am in today if it wasn't for my degree.”

As a student, Nancy took advantage of her central location at North Lakes to complete some of her degree at USC SouthBank and the rest at USC Sunshine Coast.

“I really enjoyed the option of cross-campus study as it made life more interesting,” she said. “USC Sunshine Coast provided a laid-back coastal vibe with amazing facilities and SouthBank had smaller class sizes which allowed for easier access to tutors and lecturers.”

At her recent graduation ceremony, Nancy wore the traditional Fijian salusalu over her academic robe to receive her degree in front of her parents and six-year-old son.

This traditional garland was presented to her by her mother and represents her mother’s home island of Taveuni.
