The K’gari-Fraser Island Symposium will be held at USC’s Fraser Coast campus tomorrow and Friday.
The symposium marks 25 years of UNESCO World Heritage status and will bring together researchers, traditional owners, UNESCO committee representatives and other organisations connected with the Island.
Tomorrow’s keynote speaker is USC Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Tim Wess, a leading researcher in Indigenous cultural heritage and environmental conservation.
On Friday, former President of the Australian Conservation Foundation and USC Adjunct Professor Ian Lowe will discuss the science, social issues and politics of climate change on the Island.
