Design

Research focus

Our projects are clustered around three streams of focus:

  • Health and well-being
  • Ecological engagement
  • Emerging technologies

The research areas within these streams include digital place-making, inclusive design, computational creativity, experimental game design, virtual environments, interactive media, digital culture, photography, acoustic ecology, games for education, social inclusion, and sensory perception.

Current projects include creativity and movement in aged care, game design for mental health, posthuman relationships with nature, new applications for augmented reality and designing new technologies for environmental sensing.

We ensure our research methods are sustainable, culturally sensitive, responsive to place, and acknowledge and respect Indigenous protocols and perspectives.

Partnerships

Our research has attracted competitive funding, national awards, and high impact engagement.

We facilitate meaningful and mutually beneficial partnerships with industry and community to address local challenges with global outcomes.

We engage with a diversity of collaborators and aspire to position UniSC as a leading centre for art and design research that responds to place and works across disciplines to have positive impact in our communities.

Our team strongly believe in creating pathways for emerging academics and actively engage students in our research.
