Diversity Week

Together, We All Belong

Diversity Week is about celebration, conversation and inclusion. To celebrate Diversity Week, a variety of student events and activities will be run across each campus. Students can log into the Student Portal to find out what's on.

UniSC is a community that recognises and embraces diversity among our staff, students, and community partnerships. It provides an inclusive environment where each person feels they belong and are respected, connected, and empowered.

To ensure we all benefit from a culture of diversity and inclusion, we launched the 2021–2023 Diversity and Inclusion Plan.

We can all make a difference and be champions for promoting an environment in which the diversity of our staff, students and our wider communities is valued. Diversity Week is an opportunity to demonstrate your individual commitment to contribute to creating an inclusive environment.

Bridie Kean

"Diversity is such a broad term. To me, it means recognising and celebrating everyone’s backgrounds and experiences and journeys because that’s what makes the world a richer place." (Bridie Kean, USC Associate Lecturer, Public Health; Australian Wheelchair basketballer)

When I think of diversity, I think of people’s uniqueness. Nobody’s ever the same as the person next to them. But even though everyone is unique and different, we all share common bonds.

Nina Ashfield

"We’re essentially creating the world’s next leaders, so our students need to make their voices heard to the people in power who are making the decisions. " (Nina Ashfield, USC graduate and Chancellor’s Medal recipient; former president of Amnesty International UniSC"

"It’s important to celebrate our differences because people – or groups of people – become marginalised when we’re not seeking out those different perspectives." (Tanisha Watts, Vice President of Education, UniSC Law Students’ Association)
