ESOS legislative framework awareness online training

Who needs to complete ESOS Legislative Framework Awareness training?

All UniSC staff who interact directly with international students must be aware of the University’s obligations under the ESOS legislative framework and of the potential implications for students arising from the exercise of these obligations. This requirement is fulfilled through the completion of the ESOS Legislative Framework Awareness training module.

ESOS training is mandatory for all staff who interact directly with international students. This includes all staff based in the Schools (including casual academic staff), International Office, and Student Services and Engagement. Staff are required to complete the training within one month of commencing employment, and then every two years. Supervisors are responsible for ensuring all relevant staff complete the training.

What does the ESOS Legislative Framework Awareness training involve?

This ESOS Legislative Framework Awareness training module covers information about the Education Services for Overseas Students (ESOS) legislative framework, CRICOS and the National Code of Practice, including an introduction to each of the 11 Standards in Part B of the National Code.

The training module should take approximately 40 minutes to complete. As part of the module, you will be required to complete a 10-question quiz, which will assess your knowledge and understanding of the module content.

Why do staff members need to complete this training?

As a registered provider of education to overseas students, UniSC must comply with the Education Services for Overseas Students (ESOS) Act. This training provides staff with the knowledge and information needed to comply with the Act and Standard 6.7 of the National Code of Practice.

Relevant staff members are required to complete the training at a minimum once every 2 years. They are also encouraged to re-visit this online training module periodically to refresh their knowledge, and to use the program as a resource when necessary.

Expected learning outcomes for staff include:
