Claudia is a Colombian-born evidence-based researcher. She has foundation in tropical ecology with emphasis on applied interdisciplinary research. She complemented her training with skills-building in economics and impact evaluation. Claudia's major focus is on conservation and development tradeoffs related to land-use change and natural resource management. She has in-depth knowledge with extensive first-hand experience in Latin America, southern Africa, Indonesia, Australia, and Malaysia, with long-standing relationships with key actors in forest conservation. She has expertise in the evaluation of conservation interventions informed by familiarity with regional and national policies as well as with regulatory issues including measures designed to tackle illegal resource use. She has additional experience in coordinating multi-disciplinary research on the evaluation of incentives to enhance tropical forest conservation, improve local livelihoods, and minimize climate change threats.
