As a Student Ambassador you'll have the opportunity to: 

  • Develop communication, presentation and leadership skills and enhance your resume
  • Gain unique work experience in events and marketing
  • Expand your career networks working alongside professional and academic staff and industry partners
  • Earn while you learn. This is a paid position with flexible casual hours to fit around your study
  • Meet like-minded students across campuses and get involved in campus life
  • Inspire others and share your experience with the next generation of students

Duties

As a Student Ambassador, you will be the public face of UniSC. You will represent the university at events and speak with prospective students about their study options. This may include:

  • Attending career expos, community events and delivering campus tours.
  • Delivering presentations and facilitating workshops with high school students.
  • Assisting with face-to-face and virtual major events such as UniSC Open Day and Experience UniSC.
  • Creating and sharing content for UniSC’s social media channels.
  • Assisting with event set up and pack down across the university.
  • Working alongside other UniSC staff to support activities for prospective students or current students e.g. Orientation Week and Graduation.
Requirements

To be successful, you must:  

  • be currently enrolled in a UniSC program, with a minimum of 2 years remaining on your study program (including the current semester),
  • hold a current Queensland Class C (car) Open or P1/P2 Driver’s License,
  • be eligible for a Blue Card (Queensland Working With Children Check), and
  • be available for all important dates at the locations set out below.

Important dates

Student Ambassadors perform an important role in university event delivery. To apply, you must be available to attend the following key events.

  • UniSC Open Day (Moreton Bay) - Sunday 21 July
  • UniSC Open Day (Sunshine Coast) - Sunday 4 August
  • Experience UniSC (Moreton Bay) - Monday 28 and Tuesday 29 October
  • Experience UniSC (Fraser Coast) - Wednesday 30 October
  • Experience UniSC (Sunshine Coast) - Thursday 31 October and Friday 1 November

You will also be asked to attend an interview and training sessions.

  • Training (Moreton Bay) - Thursday 14 March
  • Training (Sunshine Coast) - Friday 15 March

 

Payment and shifts

You will be employed by the University on a casual basis. You will be paid for shifts you complete and these will vary. You will be asked to submit your availability for upcoming work. Shifts are a minimum of 1 hour and may be up to 10 hours or more. As work involves high school students, you may find you are busiest within school terms.

Equipment and transport

You will be provided with a uniform, including a shirt, name badge and lanyard. A UniSC car will be provided for you to drive from campus to your jobs where appropriate. You will be responsible for your own transport to and from the campus where your shift starts.

Training

You will receive training sessions to develop university knowledge and learn about new programs and marketing activities. You will also be trained ‘on the job’ by accompanying more experienced ambassadors out in the field. You will receive a fortnightly update with essential information for work but you will also be expected to take a personal interest in keeping up to date with university knowledge, and engage with social media channels.
