Philosophy of International Relations in a Changing World
INT 235
(Offering: 2003)
Description
Philosophical conceptions of international relations are discussed in the context of a changing international environment on the assumption that many theorists are attempting to understand and explain the transformations in the world in which they live. Part One focuses on the concept of rights in international relations, from the legal, political and philosophical points of view. In Part Two, the course examines sovereignty, just-war theory and 'the national interest'. These concepts are further developed as we analyse the international community's response to terrorism.
