Non-Fiction Writing for the Small Screen

Description
We will study the demands and styles of writing for current affairs, short and long form documentary, commercial and business video and community service announcements. Students will tackle a number of writing assignments, and as potential writers for television medium, they will be introduced to a full production agenda from 'client' or producer brief through to research, scripting, filming and post-production. Documentary films will be shown and critiqued in both lectures and workshops. Several professional writers and producers will contribute to the course and screen examples of their work.
