OVERVIEW

There are 45 camping area options on K'gari.

Camping

Great Sandy National Park (which includes K'gari) is an e-permit camping area. Note that campsites not managed by the National Park Service, such as UniSC's Research and Learning Centre at Dilli Village, do not require a permit.

All camping areas have capacity limits and may become booked out, especially during peak holiday periods. Book early (up to six months in advance).

Camping areas with dingo deterrent fencesare recommended for families with children 14 years and under.

These sites are located at Dilli Village, Central Station; Dundubara; Lake Boomanjin, Waddy Point top camping area and a range of sites along the Eastern beach. The number of fenced camping areas is increasing. Check the QPWS website for updates on fenced areas.

Eastern beach camping

There are nine camping zones on the eastern beach from Dilli Village north to Sandy Cape; and Waddy Point beachfront camping area.

Western beach camping

There are seven remote beach camping areas on the north-western side between Moon Point (south) and Wathumba Creek (north).

South western camping areas

There are two remote camping areas along the south-western coastline.

Southern remote camping areas

There are three camping areas along the Hook Point inland roadnot the beach. Ideal for those that arrive late and need to wait for the low tide before traversing the eastern beach.

Fraser Island Great Walk walkers camps
Walkers camps are located along the Fraser Island Great Walk at Lake Boomanjin, Lake Benaroon, Central Station, Lake Wabby, Valley of the Giants and Lake Garawongera. All have a toilet and fresh
water. Individual sites are suitable for one or two small tents. Walkers camps must be booked in advance.
