Angophora Costata is commonly known as a Smooth Barked Apple. The tree has a distinctive red bark.
Angophora Costata turns from bright salmon prink with new barkand settles to dull red as it ages. The trees often show a distinct spotting and the limbsappear in distinctivecrooked angles.
The trees arefound in the areas adjacent to Wathumba Creek on the Island. Forests of Angophora Costatacan be found more generally inthe shrubby woodlands of the western margins of the sandmasses, the shrublands to dwarf forests of the sandmasses eastern margins and the stunted mallee forests in the north of Great Sandy National Park.
