OVERVIEW
Swim in naturally-formed volcanic rock pools, filled with frothy bubbles from saltwater waves.
These stunning volcanic pools are the only safe place to experience ocean swimming on the Island's eastern side.
As the waves from the Pacific Ocean crash over the shallow, sandy pools they fill with 'bubbles' of foam creating a natural spa.
The pools are located at Middle Rocks, between Waddy Point and Indian Head and are reached froma bypass road.
Access is from the Middle Rocks car park. Follow the boardwalk to the viewing platform in the cliffs and then take the steps down to the pools.
The area has toilet facilities.
Due to strong rips and sharks, you should not swim in the ocean around the rocks.
Do not dive in as submerged rocks are scattered throughout the pools.
Avoid swimming at high tide when larger waves can crash on to the pools and create strong currents.
