Logging History

K'gari was logged for its magnificent timber for almost 130 years until operations ceased in 1991. This large clearing at Central Station was the headquarters of Forestry Department operations from 1920 until the late 1950s. Around 30 houses and a school were once located here for the logging families who lived on the Island.
